Cosplay Runway is for every cosplayer who does not want to/ Does not meet the requirements to compete in the cosplay contest. This is where you can strut your stuff and show off your cosplay! Cosplay Runway will have a 1st place prize! You can contact us at cosplay@dreamconvention.com
Sign Ups:
- All cosplayers must have a Dream Con attendee badge to participate in contest
- All cosplayers must provide a description of what your performance/skit will be for the contest. If your written summary is not what you perform on stage, you will be stopped and removed from stage following disqualification from the contest.
- All cosplayers must be 13-years or older to sign up without a parent/guardian’s permission.
- All cosplayers under the age of 13 are required to have a guardian in attendance during the contest.
- (July 28th at midnight ) is the deadline for all Cosplay Runway registrations.
Cosplay Runway Rules
Costume & Prop Design
- Your cosplay can be from any fandom including but not limited to anime, video games, comics, and cartoons.
- All cosplays must provide as much coverage as a standard bikini/swimsuit.
- All male cosplayers are REQUIRED to wear a dance belt.
- Nudity is not allowed. No participants are allowed to be topless on stage.
- No offensive or vulgar cosplays (i.e. Hitler cosplays, Black Face, etc.) are allowed in the Cosplay Contest.
- No real weapons are allowed such as bats, metal chains, guns, airsoft guns, water guns and anything made out of metal. No weapon can be functional. All functional weapons will be banned from convention.
- All real weaponry is banned from the convention center. Individuals caught with real weapons will be dismissed from the convention center immediately.
Performance
- All performances must be PG-13 if it comes off as anything vulgar or inappropriate we will cut you off. Remember this is a family-friendly convention.
- A written summary detailing your performance is required. If your written summary is not what you perform on stage, you will be stopped and removed from stage following disqualification from the cosplay contest.
- Music Will be provided for runway you do not need to send in your music as we will be using a premade playlist for runway.
Time
- Contestants will have a walk/skit time of 30 seconds.
Stage Props & Stage Ninjas
- If you have stage props and need time for setup and takedown, let us know and we will attempt to accommodate you.
- You must provide your own stage ninja’s.
Safety
- No jumping or running off the stage! Safety is number one!
- Your costume must be able to walk up and down stairs without issues. Your costume must also allow you to have clear visibility. We do not want you to get hurt or damage your cosplay.
Everything you bring on stage must be taken with you. No confetti/Glitter, Smoke Bombs, fire/explosives, or jumping off the stage. This is a platform stage, not a theater. If you have any questions over staging, please ask the Staff/volunteers. If you have any surprises, ask the Staff/Volunteers.“DO NOT SURPRISE THE STAFF SURPRISE THE JUDGES”. EVERYONE IS WELCOME No matter age, Size, Race, Gender or Religious Affiliation.
If you do not abide by the rules provided you will be disqualified and banned from the Cosplay Runway and possible future Dream Con Cosplay Events.
