A Guide to Dream Con 2026: Know Before You Go

Blog

Dream Con is back in Houston July 10-12, 2026, at the George R. Brown Convention Center, for another unforgettable weekend of all things entertainment! Whether you’re new to the convention or returning for its second year in Space City, here’s everything you need to know before you go.

What to Do at Dream Con

There’s never a shortage of things to do during Dream Con weekend. This year, gamers can spend hours in the Gaming Hall with plenty of casual play zones to try new titles, and opportunities to watch or compete in live tournaments for games like Street Fighter 6, Rocket League, NBA 2K, and more. Sports fans should check out the community dodgeball and pickleball games or travel offsite to watch your favorite creators face off at the Charity Basketball Game taking place at the University of Houston’s Fertitta Center.

Cosplayers won’t want to miss Dream Con’s Cosplay Contest, Runway Show, or official cosplay meetups, while aspiring performers and entertainers can check out or participate in our Voice Actor Talent Search, Live at the Dream Stage music star search, Poetry Slam, and a live comedy special hosted by comedian, director, actor, and writer Bigg Jah. Film enthusiasts can support emerging creators at the returning Dream Con Film Fest, presented in partnership with Black Cinema Club HTX.

Of course, there are also community panels you can check out all weekend, covering topics ranging from music and dance to content creation. Learn new things like how to create your Dungeons & Dragons character, have heated debates with other fans about topics like which anime opening goes the hardest, or test your pop culture knowledge with some trivia.

You can also sit in on premiere panels and programming like “Power Rangers: Legacy of Black Heroes,” a Dream Con-exclusive ranger reunion where five iconic rangers come together to share behind-the-scenes stories, career journeys, fan memories, and the impact of representation in one of the most legendary franchises in TV history. Finally, don’t forget to check out the Exhibit Hall and after-hours events between activities!

Where to Stay Near Dream Con

For the most convenient experience, we recommend staying at the Hilton Americas-Houston or the Marriott Marquis Houston, as they are both connected directly to the George R. Brown Convention Center via an indoor walkway. However, we encourage you to check out Dream Con’s full list of official hotels for additional lodging options and booking details.

How to Travel for Dream Con

Downtown Houston is definitely walkable, and there are several spots where you can rent electric scooters to efficiently travel across the area. However, Dream Con attendees can also take advantage of the city’s METRORail, METRO bus system, and rideshare services to get around.

Flying into town? Both the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) are about 30 minutes from downtown. Travelers arriving at IAH can take advantage of METRO’s 500 IAH Downtown Direct line, which provides convenient low-fare service between the airport and downtown Houston.

If you’re planning to drive, be aware that ongoing construction around the convention center may impact parking and traffic flow in the area. The Avenida South Garage remains part of a major redevelopment project, so attendees should plan to park at alternative lots and garages, allow extra travel time, and consider a rideshare or public transportation option if possible.

Where to Eat Near Dream Con

Houston is one of the most diverse food cities in the country, which means there’s something for every taste and budget. Inside the George R. Brown Convention Center, you’ll find staples like Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Grotto, Kulture, and Saltgrass Steak House.

If you want to check out more of what Houston cuisine has to offer, there are also plenty of options within walking distance or a short ride away from the convention center, such as the dining and entertainment hub, POST Houston.

What to Do Near Dream Con

We can’t imagine you’ll want to go anywhere else with all Dream Con has to offer this year, but if you need a break between panels or want to explore the city, you have options! Discovery Green, located directly across from the convention center, offers plenty of park activities, public art, and outdoor events to enjoy throughout the year. During Dream Con weekend, you can expect to see a Soccer Summer: Kicks and Coffee event there on Saturday – right on cue for the ongoing World Cup, followed by a free lawn concert on Sunday featuring Babatunde and Friends and Batala Houston.

Dream Con attendees can also explore Downtown Houston’s nightlife, catch a performance in the Theater District, or hop on the METRORail to the nearby Museum District to check out some cultural attractions. You can also take a short ride to check out the immersive, interactive art installations at Meow Wolf or hit up the classic arcade cabinets at Cidercade.
